This was drawn from an old photo of American folk singer Woody Guthrie. i used rapid-o-graph pens and ink. Woodrow Wilson Guthrie was born in Oklahoma in 1914.
After an early life of hardship he hit the road at age 14 and lived the hobo life of rambling and train-hopping and eventually picked up a guitar and became a prolific singer and song writer.
Much of his lyrics reflected the struggles of migrant workers, dust bowl refugees and other victims of the great depression.
He wrote and sang one of the most famous American folk songs, "This Land is Your Land".
