from October 1999 to June 2001 i drew a daily comic strip. it was published in the independent Florida alligator, the unoffical newspaper of the University of Florida. i had been drawing the editorial comics for the opinions page for that paper for over a year, and then shifted my thoughts to comic strips. it was much more fun designing and drawing the comic strips than drawing fiery editorial comics. my comic strip started out as 'Repete', named after the strip's main character. eventually i didn't want the strip to focus on just a main character, so the strip's name was changed to 'Stereotype Theatre'. the name was meant as a pun on how newspaper comic strips can be dominated by empty, predictable, stereotyped situations and characters, so if i drew a comic that delved in that direction, i thought the name would at least ask forgiveness. eventually, i decided to change the strip's name to 'Bunk'. in all, i drew 239 of these comic strips.
